The Senate Education Committee convened on Thursday, March 26 to hear several bills including Sen. Van de Putte’s SB 1290, which would provide mentor teachers for teachers working in new subject areas. This bill passed out of the committee with a favorable recommendation. SB 1255, filed by Sen. Shapiro, which would use the foundation school fund as collateral for school district bonds in order to avoid the purchase of high cost bond insurance, was left pending due to its attached fiscal note.
