TEA posted correspondence to its web site last evening that should be shared with district PEIMS coordinators, district dropout prevention coordinators, and campus administrators. The letter emphasizes the need to ensure adequate documentation to corroborate or substantiate appropriate coding on leaver records, based on appropriate time frames, and the need to examine cohort data to ensure accuracy of historical data. Ramifications of submitting inaccurate data are described, and include inability to successfully appeal dropout, completion or graduation rate data used in the state or federal accountability systems and any other relevant consequences associated with state and federal monitoring systems, including PBMAS. Finally, the letter includes notice that random audits of leaver data and associated documentation will be conducted on this year's submissions. The letter can be accessed at http://ritter.tea.state.tx.us/taa/sortf.cgi?command=bydate
